Resident Coaches and Instructors

A critical piece to ensuring our residents stay on the path to success in the CT Teacher Residency Program is through the support of our Resident Coaches and Instructors. Both are influential in providing knowledge, resources and advocating for the residents’ success while navigating through the program. 

RESIDENT COACH

Resident Coaches will work under the direction of the CT TRP Director, and works with Residents enrolled in the CT Teacher Residency Program and the Mentor Teachers that they are paired with for the duration of the Residency year.  Resident Coaches will work with pairs in both a virtual and face-to-face environment and supervise, evaluate and advise residents. They also provide training to Residents, Mentors, and District Staff.

To be considered for a Resident Coach position, you must have :

  • 7 Years of teaching experience
  • Master’s Degree Required
  • Elementary Teaching Certification Required

INSTRUCTORS

A critical part of the CT TRP design is the implementation of courses that will provide aspiring teachers with the skills, content, and pedagogy they will need to be successful teachers in Connecticut elementary schools.

To be considered for an Instructor position, you must have:

    • CT Professional Teaching Certificate
    • Minimum of 5 years teaching experience
    • Master’s Degree Required in subject area preferred
    • Expertise in current research and practice in elementary education
    • Understanding of CT State Standards, Assessments, Teaching Standards and certification assessments specific to the content area (e.g. Praxis II, Foundations of Reading)
    • Skilled in teaching adult learners
    • Specialized skill and/or experience in course content
    • Ability to deliver instruction and in both an online and face-to-face setting using Canvas, Zoom and Google
    •  

Instructor applicants will need: 

    • Letter of recommendation from current administrator
    • Current resume
